They were both very accommodating, ensuring that we maintained the pace of delivery to achieve the tight deadlines required. Our requests were challenging, making life difficult for the contractors, however, they were always met with an accommodating smile. The project was delivered on time and just below budget, we requested several variations throughout the project, all of which were delivered within the original time frames, including practical completion. The project was delivered to an extremely high standard and we are delighted with the end result.. Peak has worked with Contact One for more than 5 years, across a number of fit-out and refurbishment projects. To summarise, we've been really impressed with the people, quality and delivery across multiple projects, and they will be our preferred choice of contractor for future projects.
People: The people we have worked with directly, including Stuart Arrowsmith as Site Manager, have been consistently excellent to deal with. They also built great relationships with the building's facilities staff, ensuring that they worked around other contractors and kept to their guidelines. The feedback we had from the Facilities Manager during the fit-out was extremely positive about the whole team.
Quality: We've been really pleased with the quality of the finish in our new Head Office in Manchester Goods Yard - from the built rooms to the kitchens, flooring and mechanical / electrical / plumbing.
Programme: On our most recent project at MGY, we had a really tight programme, with a hard deadline. The Contact One team pulled out all the stops to ensure we were able to move in on schedule. This was also the case with previous fit-outs, where we had little room to maneuver on timelines - and they've all been completed on time. The team know the importance of meeting programme, and we've been impressed with the drive to get things completed to schedule.
Transparency: The team were always open about where we were up to in terms of plan. There was good communication on where things are up to, and flagging any decisions that needed to be made to keep us on track. Any cost impacts from our additional requests were clearly communicated and it always felt like we were in control of the programme and cost.
Flexibility / creativity: We had some challenging requirements - such as building trellis work around some meeting room pods that had not yet been built, and to make all joinery demountable / moveable to give us future flexibility. This was no trouble for the Contact One team, who came up with creative ways to make sure our requirements were met.

Full refurbishment of existing property for local authority councils. Remedial works following fire and flood events. Replacement of steel railing on multi story flats. Management of large projects including removal of asbestos by specialist sub-contractors. Under these projects Contact One acted as Principal Contractor under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and were fully compliant. Workmanship has always been to a high standard with good management structure in place. Contact One are working with Access Creative College on an ambitious capital expansion project and have now delivered three new campuses in Bristol, Manchester and London over the past three years totalling approximately 40,000sqft.
As an education provider we work to very challenging timelines and on each occasion the team have gone above and beyond to accommodate our often very tight project delivery dates, working with us to schedule activity around the build program, managing challenging logistics and maintaining a safe site whilst ensuring that we are able to occupy on time.
We are an innovative and forward thinking organisation and the team at Contact One work closely with us and our design team to select suitable materials and construction methods to interpret and deliver our design specification to an exceptionally high standard. The build was completed according to their originally stated date, with minor alterations to the budget, and no disruption to our production process. They were very accommodating with design changes that we requested during the building process, successfully installed fume extraction and climate control systems, and fully communicated with us throughout the duration of the project. Our global director recently travelled from the US to visit the new laboratory, and was impressed by the high quality finish. Overall we are very pleased with the service we received from Contact One, and have been operating in the lovely new space for 4 months now, without experiencing any problems.
